Plein-Air Painting at St. Martins Beach

The artists

Being so darn busy has kept me from going out with the Plein-Air group of painters. Recently we were invite to a private beach seven miles south of Half Moon Bay called St. Martins.

It was fogged in all day and yet we still had a great time.

After a nice long barefoot walk on the beach my attention turned to Shark Tooth Rock.

Once the little sketchbook painting was completed, there was something missing, like values. There were very little darks and quite a bit of lights. This little piece didn’t get much appreciation from me UNTIL . . . I saw the Turner exhibit.

The Turner exhibit made me think it might be worth a share.

Well maybe it's a poor comparison.

In August – I made the 5-hour drive from the Silicon Valley to Ventura to get the rest of my few things from storage. Several paintings in various stages of completion were recovered and discovered.
